In April 2025, His Grace Bishop Nektarije established the Orthodox Way Group for English-speaking parishioners in the London, Great Britain, and Ireland Diocese. Starting with 5 English speaking members the group has now grown to 40 members within nine months. The group meets online on Tuesday evenings to learn about the Orthodox faith and teaching. The Orthodox Way group gathers in person after Divine Liturgy at St.Sava London, on Saturdays and Sundays for fellowship over tea or coffee.
During the recent Christmas fast, members were reminded of Christ’s teachings on the importance of caring for the poor, engaging in acts of charity as a key part of their fasting practice. As a result, the group raised £700 for the Charity Siloam 256 to help with their work in Uganda. This was suggested by our dear Sister Isabella of the Orthodox Way Group. Isabella worked at this charity as a volunteer.
Charity ‘Siloam 256’ focuses on empowering Uganda’s deaf community, particularly unemployed youth, by providing vocational training and resources to promote financial independence and enhance their quality of life through skills development and community engagement.
The Orthodox Way group members express ongoing gratitude for the support and encouragement that our dear Bishop Nektarije has given. We deeply value, respect his leadership and appreciate the Orthodox Way Group which was established for English speakers to be an integral part of the parish.
