On Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th November, a presentation of Mr Dragan Jemović’s book “Mount Athos – The Garden of the Most Holy Mother of God” was held in the main hall of the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of St Sava in London. This valuable work is the fruit of his many years of research on Mount Athos, as well as his careful mapping of the monasteries, sketes, and lesser-known cells of this unique monastic republic.
The author introduced those present to the spiritual and cultural heritage of Mount Athos, speaking about its historical particularities, architecture, monastic life, and his personal encounters with Athonite fathers. Special attention was drawn to newly presented information and photographs of lesser-known Athonite sites, as well as to the maps that Mr Jemović has systematically created over many years of dedicated work.
The presentation was attended by faithful and guests who had previously been blessed to visit Mount Athos, as well as many admirers and supporters of this autonomous monastic republic of the Most Holy Mother of God on the Halkidiki peninsula. The event unfolded in a prayerful and grateful atmosphere, accompanied by lively discussion and reflections on the significance of Athonite tradition in the life of contemporary Orthodox Christians.
The Cathedral of St Sava extends its gratitude to Mr Dragan Jemović for the effort and love invested in the creation of this work, as well as to all who enhanced this spiritual and cultural event with their presence.
