On the Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, His Grace Bishop Nektarije of London and Great Britain and Ireland presided over the Holy Eucharistic gathering at the Chapel of St Andrew the First-Called in Bedford.
His Grace was concelebrated by the Reverend Borislav Kovačević, with the prayerful participation of the faithful and the assistance of Subdeacon Simon Tingley.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Nektarije addressed the gathered faithful with a sermon on the spiritual significance of the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. He emphasised that we are all called to continual transformation through a life in Christ, particularly during the days of fasting, which help us to strengthen ourselves in a Christ-like way of life through repentance, prayer and spiritual struggle.
At the end of his sermon, His Grace the Bishop expressed the wish that the uncreated light of Christ might shine upon us all, and that the days of fasting might be for our spiritual benefit and salvation.
Following the service, refreshments were served outside the chapel for all those present, and the festive gathering continued in a spirit of brotherly love and fellowship.
Work is currently under way in the chapel to adapt and improve the worship space, so that it may serve more worthily the liturgical life and spiritual needs of our community. We therefore invite all people of goodwill to support this God-pleasing work according to their means and, through their contributions, to become part of this endeavour.
