The Feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord was solemnly celebrated with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in Halifax, served by His Grace Bishop Nektarije of London and Great Britain and Ireland.
His Grace was concelebrated by the Very Reverend Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Aleksandar Ilić, the Very Reverend Protopresbyter Branimir Jokić, the Secretary of the Diocese of Britain and Ireland, the Reverend Borislav Kovačević, and Hierodeacon Paisios, with the faithful gathered in prayer.
Following the dismissal, Bishop Nektarije addressed those gathered with a homily on the significance of the Precious Cross in the life of every Christian. He reminded the faithful that the Lord Jesus Christ willingly accepted suffering and bore the Cross with boundless patience, love and forgiveness.
“That is why we, Christians who live in Christ, must never lose heart in the face of the trials of life. We are called to pray that the Lord may always be with us and grant us the strength to bear our own cross in life with faith, hope and patience,” the Bishop said.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the festive gathering continued in the church hall, where the dedicated hostesses had prepared a feast of love and refreshments for all those present.
