“Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.” (Luke 16:25)
In his inspiring homily, Fr Aleksandar Vujko explained that the Gospel parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus reminds us that material wealth and earthly status lose all their value in the face of eternity.
The rich man was not condemned because of his possessions, but because of his blindness and complete indifference to the suffering of his neighbour, who lay at his very gate.
This profound parable calls us to awaken our conscience, not to turn away from the suffering of others, and to measure our lives by love and compassion, for these are the only things we shall carry with us when we stand before God.
